The village of Xoxlac has requested a total of 100 Aller Stoves. The Guatemala staff of Hands For Peacemaking has worked hard to improve the efficiency of the stove and at the same time streamline production techniques to be able to lower the price of the stoves. They have accomplished both goals!
In the past, the stove required an investment of $250.00 which included 6 month of follow up to help villagers learn how to get the maximum efficiency from the stove as well as learning how to perform preventative maintenance.
The good news is that they have been able to reduce the stove cost from $250.00 per Aller Stove to just $200.00, including the follow up. Since the village has requested 100 stoves, the project will require an investment of $20,000.00.
Each stove takes approximately one hour for a team to assemble and install. We are working on a presentation in the villager’s language that can be shown to the mother while the stove is being installed. It will include information as to how the stove can utilize the least amount of wood, how to properly maintain their new stove and how to prepare nutritional meals.
Presently, we are looking to present the information on an iPAD that can be taken to each hut during installation.
