Nutritional Status in Northern Nigeria, Prevalence and Determinants: a Review of Evidence — This summary outlines the approach, key findings and conclusions of a review of literature on the prevalence and determinants of child and maternal undernutrition in northern Nigeria, and direct and indirect interventions to tackle undernutrition, globally and in Nigeria, undertaken in 2012.

Nutrition Commitment Audit for Nigeria — A Nutrition Commitment Audit (NCA) assesses national and state-level efforts and political will to reduce levels of undernutrition. A NCA facilitates the identification of areas where commitment and capacity to accelerate the reduction of undernutrition are strong or weak. In the longer run it can also be used as an advocacy tool for strengthening commitment and elevating nutrition in political agendas. ORIE Nigeria: Quantitative Impact Evaluation Baseline Report — This report presents the findings from the baseline survey of the quantitative impact evaluation of the Working to Improve Nutrition in Northern Nigeria (WINNN) Programme interventions in Northern Nigeria. The household survey data collection was conducted in June 2013 and a final round of data collection is scheduled for June 2016. Both baseline and endline survey data will be used to estimate the collective impact of the WINNN Programme interventions that are focused at the level of the Local Government Area – Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) and Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF).

ORIE Nigeria Gender Synthesis Report: Gender-related findings across ORIE studies (Year Three) — Gender inequality and child mortality, morbidity and malnutrition are inextricably linked. Data collected in ORIE’s research and evaluation studies throw light on the links between the low status and autonomy of women, low uptake of nutrition services, and poor child health outcomes, in four states of Northern Nigeria. ORIE’s annual gender syntheses summarise gender-related findings from across ORIE studies and suggest implications for nutrition programmes and policies like those supported by WINNN in Northern Nigeria.

Report of the WINNN-ORIE Nutrition Stakeholders Engagement Event, 29 April 2014, Abuja — On the morning of Tuesday 29 April 2014, around 70 stakeholders discussed how to tackle undernutrition in Northern Nigeria, including staff from state and federal government, multilateral agencies, Nigerian research institutions, and domestic and international non-governmental organisations. The meeting was convened in Abuja at the invitation of the Federal Ministry of Health and the National Planning Commission Nigeria. The meeting reviewed the implications of new research findings by ORIE on the severity of malnutrition in Northern Nigeria and the interventions implemented by the (WINNN) programme, in partnership with government, to tackle malnutrition. This report summarises the key issues and recommendations.
