The engine roster is a wide mix of engines appropriate for 1954-1955, as well as several in the "?" category - not modern but more "where in the heck did that come from?"
The Canadian National roster includes the olive green/gold of the era on RS3's, FP9's, GMD-1, and Fairbanks Morse H15-44, and the black/gold S4, and SW9/1200's.
The branchline also has a number of steam locomotives in active service.
A pair of Consolidations are usually operated as a double-header on branchline passenger service
A 4-6-0 and an ancient 4-4-0, the matriarch of the fleet, are often found coupled together on the front end of the passenger excursion train. The 4-4-0 can't quite make it up a couple of the grades without some assistance.
Occasional appearances are made by a locally built "Galloping Goose"
........ the "AOOGAH" horn is a head-turner.
A CN gas-electric (Doodlebug) is occasionally called into service on the branchline,
and an frequent lease from the Aroostook Valley Railroad, #23, is used mostly in the Barnesville area on switching duties
This car originally went into service as a Tichy flatcar, but was modified to provide service from Henry Lake to McCready's Pickles in Saint John. Rumours abound that not all the vats are used for pickles, brine and vinegar. Using locally produced ingredients, a Henry Lake entrepreneur, operating under the name "Wylie's Whiskies", is known to create magical elixirs known as Apple Ambrosia and Maple Magic. Rumour has it that significant volumes of the heavenly liquid are transported, but the Mounties have been unable to find any trace while investigating these stories.
The steam-powered shovel spends much of its time on duty at the manganese mines where it is used to clear away tailings and load it into gondolas for use as ballast on the railway.
The Sunday excursions from Hampton to St Martins have resumed. Railway management decided it needed an amplification system for the live music and hired Pete McPeat to do the installation in a spare stock car.
These fire train cars started life in the MDC shops and spent a short time in service on the Hampton & St Martins Railway (story in the Intro section) before being sold to Marcus Enterprises and shipped to fire-ravaged Victoria, Australia.
