Be Still Like a Mountain...
Move Like a Great River
At Still Mountain, I teach as I practice: as a student first, continually learning, refining, and rediscovering. My work blends the depth of Taijiquan and Qigong with my background as an exercise physiologist and gerontologist, creating a space where tradition and evidence‑based understanding support one another.
The story behind the Dao symbol (道) guides everything I do. We are all travelers on a long road, gathering treasures from:
Heaven (tian) — clarity, perspective, spaciousness
Earth (di) — grounding, steadiness, embodied wisdom
Humanity (ren) — connection, compassion, shared learning
We pick these treasures up, use them, and give them away again. Teachers walk the same road as their students—just a few steps ahead—offering what they’ve learned along the way.
My teaching brings together classical lineage training and accessible, health‑focused programs:
Tai Chi for Health Institute Programs (Dr. Paul Lam)
Tai Chi for Arthritis & Fall Prevention
Seated Tai Chi for Arthritis
Additional Tai Chi for Health programs
Yang Tai Chi 24 Form (Beijing Form)
The most widely practiced form of Tai Chi in the World
Yangjia Michuan Taijiquan (Master Wang Yen-nien)
Shi San Shi (the 13 Postures)
Duans 1–3 of the 127‑movement form
Foundational Tui Shou (push hands)
Neigong/Taoist Meditative Practices (Gold Mountain Tradition)
Qigong for vitality and ease
Shibashi
Ba Duan Jin
Yi Jin Jing
Dayan (Wild Goose)
and other restorative sets
Students arrive seeking balance, strength, confidence, or simply a calmer way to move through daily life. What they find is a practice that honors their pace, respects their dignity, and grows with them over time.
Still Mountain is a community of learners walking the same road—each of us carrying our own treasures, each of us discovering what it means to move with clarity, steadiness, and ease.
