Parishioners please note:

Sacrament of Baptism:

Baptism is celebrated by appointment after the 10:00 am Mass. Church Law requires that children be baptized in the first few weeks after being born. Generally, parents should be parishioners for at least six months and must be attending Mass weekly and on all Holy Days of Obligation. New parents may call the parish office to make arrangements. Baptismal Preparation class is required for first-time parents.

Sacrament of Marriage:

God wills that Marriage is a love that endures until death. This takes His help and the wisdom of the Church. To be married at St. George's Church, at least one member of the couple must be registered with the parish for at least one year, and the couple must be attending Mass weekly and on all Holy Days of Obligation. So that your love remains strong, true, and forever, we get you ready by meetings with the Pastor and Marriage Preparation classes. Please contact the parish office at least six months prior to the planned wedding date.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

Takes place during the hour of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Tuesdays between 6:00 pm and 6:45 pm and by appointment.

Letters of Recommendation

We agree with you that being a godparent for Baptism or a sponsor for Confirmation is a huge honour; that’s why a letter of recommendation is used to help you in the process of becoming one. The Letter of Recommendation attests to another parish that you fulfill what the church law requires for a person to serve as a sponsor or godparent. To be eligible you must: (1) be sixteen years of age or older; (2) be a baptized Catholic who is confirmed and who made a First Holy Communion; (3) if married, you must have been married in a Catholic ceremony or in one sanctioned by the Catholic Church. Moreover, if you reside within the boundaries of our parish you should be registered with St. George Parish and be attending Mass here every Sunday and on the required Holy days of Obligation. Divorced persons can also be godparents, provided they are not “living together” with someone or keeping steady company with anyone.

Examples that would disqualify someone from receiving a Letter of Recommendation include: "living with" someone outside of marriage, being divorced and then remarried outside of the Church, "leaving" the Catholic faith, missing Mass on a regular basis, or being excommunicated. To ensure justice and fairness anyone can appeal to the pastor, who will be happy to consider their case. If you have any questions, please make an appointment to further discuss your situation.
