Oct. 13 (?), 1960, MSU Union
Kennedy was campaigning in Michigan, and spoke at the MSU Union. Later that same day, he went to Detroit and ended up in Ann Arbor, where he announced the birth of the Peace Corps.
I was a signature collector at the time. Hence, that's me, pretty much center stage, with the pad and pen. I didn't get his signature, but I did shake his hand.
I also shook hands with Bobby, at the Capital City Airport, when he was campaigning. He greeted the crowd at the short cyclone fence that provided "security". Boy was that a long time ago.
