Purpose:
Sterling High School desires to offer the Sterling community at large access to emerging technologies such as 3D printers to inspire interest in design and help students, faculty, and staff bring their creations to life. In order to provide optimal service to the Sterling community, we adhere to the following regulations and policies:
Procedure:
Sterling High School’s 3D printer is available to Sterling students, faculty, and staff to make three dimensional objects in a variety of materials using a design that is uploaded from a digital computer file.
Sterling’s 3D printer may be used only for lawful purposes. No one will be permitted to use to use the 3D printer to create material that is:
In violation of the Sterling Technology Contract and the Student Code of Conduct.
Prohibited by local, state or federal law.
Unsafe, harmful, dangerous, or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of others. Such use may violate the terms of use of the manufacturer.
Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for Sterling’s environment.
In violation of another’s intellectual property rights. For example, the printer will not be used to reproduce material subject to copyright, patent or trademark protection.
Sterling reserves the right to refuse any 3D print request.
Items printed from the 3d printer not picked up within seven days after being printed become property of Sterling High School. Items must be picked up by the individual who printed them, showing their Sterling ID.
Only designated Sterling faculty, staff, and volunteers will have hands-on access to the 3D printer.
Sterling staff may use discretion to organize the print queue for overall efficient output. Priority may be given for class assignments.
Printed objects may be photographed for monitoring, marketing, and reporting outcomes.
Additional requirements not listed here may be implemented as the need arises.
