Assistant Professor, Texas Tech University
You have reached the website of Stephen Meserve, an assistant professor of political science at Texas Tech University. My expertise lies in comparative politics, with specific research interests in comparative political economy and comparative legislative politics and a regional expertise in Europe, along with a methodological side interest in measurement. I am active in a variety of projects within these areas, including the distributive politics of health, historical political economy, internet censorship, and European Union politics. My solo-authored projects frequently use historical quantitative data, where I examine OECD countries with the same theoretical lenses we use for developing states. You can learn more about my projects using the research projects sidebar which features links to paper manuscripts and conference papers.
Papers from my projects appear in British Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, Journal of Politics, Political Analysis, Political Science Research and Methods, and Studies in Comparative International Development while data and replication files from my publications are available separately on Dataverse. At TTU, I teach Ph.D and undergraduate level political science classes in my fields of interest.
