STEM SOS PBL - Ice-Melting Blocks 2016
This PBL focuses on transfers of energy and the thermal conductive capacity of different materials. In short, the experiment utilizes principles of thermodynamics (including the Law of Conservation of Energy) to explore how any why ice cubes melt more quickly on certain ice-melting blocks. In real life, the principles of thermodynamics can be applied to the study of economic evolution, as well as to the creation of cooling systems such as refrigerators and air conditioners, objects whose primary function is to lower temperatures.
Driving Question: Why does ice melt faster on one ice-melting block than the other?
