Tech Requirements for online course STAT 101:
To be able to complete the online class successfully, at a minimum you will need a personal computer, access to the internet, a webcam , and a microphone to take online exams.
Zoom will be used to proctor the exam if the tests are not given face-to-face.
Lectures for Stat-101B: Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:10 pm- 3:40 pm.
Lectures for Stat-101A: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:30 Pm- 2:00 Pm.
Lectures for Stat-101C: Fridays, 1:00 Pm- 4:00 Pm.
Office Hours:
Tuesdays & Thursdays: 12:00 pm- 12:30 pm. OR 3:40 pm- 4:10 pm. IN-PERSON @ VANCOUVER CAMPUS

David Freedman, Robert Pisani, Roger Purves. (W.W. Norton & Co.). (4th edition) STATISTICS
Course Overview:
This course discusses, in a non-mathematical context, procedures that are most commonly used in the summary of statistical surveys and in the interpretation of experimental data. The rationale for these procedures is explained in details.
Lectures:
You are expected to attend lecture. The fundamental concepts and examples are presented in lecture.
Evaluation of students:
Final course grades will be based on the following three components with weights shown in parentheses:
Quizzes and Class Participation (35%):
1. We check attendance every class!
2. We have weekly quizzes (starting WEEK 2)!
3. Cheating in a test can result a zero in Quizzes_and_Class_Participaion!
Midterm examination (30%): This exam consists of two parts A) a written test, and B) An oral test.
1. Only those questions answered correctly will be asked again in the oral test.
2. To earn the marks assigned, you need to answer questions correctly both on written and oral test.
3. Failure to provide correct answers in the oral test can result in re-assessment.
4. The midterm exam is a closed books/notes in-person exam, except that you may allow to use a crib sheet (8.5x11 inches, 2-sided).
5. There will be one midterm exam during the course and it is a closed books/notes in-person exam. The midterm exam will be on WEEK 7.
Final comprehensive examination (35%): This exam consists of two parts A) a written test, and B) An oral test.
1. Only those questions answered correctly will be asked again in the oral test.
2. To earn the marks assigned, you need to answer questions correctly both on written and oral test.
3. Failure to provide correct answers in the oral test can result in re-assessment.
4. The final exam is a closed books/notes in-person exam.
5. The final exam will cover all the material taught in the course and the final exam date is WEEK 14.
Items of Interest
1. To receive credit for the course, students must achieve a course composite grade of at least 50 percent and a grade of at least 40 percent on the final examination.
2. There will be no make-up exams.
3. Read the chapters prior to their coverage in class.
