Stardust was formed about three years ago and we have blended our individual a cappella skills into a doo wop style which is uniquely our own. We have received wonderful receptions wherever we have performed.
Collectively we have sung on WCBS, WBAB, WXBA, NEWS12, at Tara’s in Port Jefferson, The Huntington Hilton, The Patchogue Theater, The Brookhaven Amphitheater, local libraries, local nursing homes and assisted living facilities, and Brentwood HS.
Our members are:
- Angela Patelli, (first tenor and lead), started singing doo wop with her girlfriends in her pre-teen years. She has been singing over the past 30 years locally in the St. Anthony’s HS Chorus and the Diocesan Choir. Angela has also performed in local theater. Stardust is lucky to have her singing her first love: doo wop.
- Steve Pappas, (lead, harmony, bass), performed with many doo wop groups over the years, including Second Time Around, one of LI’s premier groups. He is a retired telephone company employee and currently works for the Brentwood Schools.
- Marc Stafford, (lead, bass, harmony), performed for several years with the doo wop group, New Beginning, and serves as our musical director. He is a retired Nassau County Police officer and now works in consulting.
- Chris Shea, (harmony, lead), has always loved doo wop and has been singing since he was a teen. He is a retired teacher who is also a mainstay of the Harbormen, a barbershop chorus.
- Bob Masone, (lead, harmony), a lifetime lover of music, played drums and sang in several groups over the years and decided to try to form a doo wop group to sing the music he loves. He is a retired teacher and Guidance Dept. Chairman, who also sings with the Harbormen.
