Bruce’s Autobiography (2021)
Left Staples a year late, went to Mexico for a few months, came back, worked in a bookstore at Columbia University for some years, received a BA in Asian Studies and Chinese language from Columbia, got married, had a daughter, studied in Taiwan, got divorced. Got an MA in the same stuff, taught Chinese for a year at Seton Hall University until I went to work in a private boarding school in Oregon (still there). Got remarried. Have had many functions at the school over the last 40+ years: Dean, Headmaster, Director Admissions, Chinese teacher, lit teacher, Director of Admissions for Asia (last 20 years). Spent months working for the school in Japan, China, Korea and Taiwan. Somewhere along the line, I studied flute with Hubert Laws in NY and sitar at Ravi Shankar's school in L.A. Don't like puzzles. Love chicken feet, fried dumplings & Beijing duck and writing.
Bruce's 2026 Update
I’ve always believed that a good story is worth the wait. At 80, I released The Wolf of 116th Street, a novel centered on the vicissitudes of a family managing two rival rescue dogs in NYC. At 82, I completed a second book Talking to Trees: a collection of short stories and verse that includes adventures in Westport long-gone, circa 1957-60. Wolf was edited (and refined) by Peter Kelman. Both titles are available on Amazon and at Barnes & Noble.
