Problem Statement:
In order to solve the problem of how to keep a beverage, such as that of beer, cooled throughout its lifespan, group 10 set out to find a method to cool a warmed beverage and maintain it within a set temperature range. One such way to solve this issue was to create a coaster, or cup holder, that would conduct a form of conduction-based heat transfer between thermoelectric materials used in the base of the coaster to that of the cup that the beverage is contained within. Then through another basis of heat transfer, the cup would transfer heat between itself and that of the liquid inside.
This coaster would allow the beverage to be cooled through conduction with the thermoelectric materials used in the design of the coaster. The specific selection of the materials used in the construction of the cooler are important also as they have to be constructed to allow the functionality to allow for the dissipation of heat. Once constructed, the materials, and components of the coaster would have to be able to be put to the test by cooling a cup of water by several degrees Fahrenheit. If done, the efficiency of the device could be improved using other materials or better components such as the heat sink.
