Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Shukor Sanim Mohd Fauzi is a distinguished academic and research leader in the field of software engineering. He most recently served as the Rector of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perlis Branch from 2021 to 2024. Prior to this role, he held the position of Deputy Rector (Research and Industrial Linkages) from 2019 to 2021 and has been a long-serving faculty member at the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, UiTM Perlis.
Dr. Shukor is also internationally recognized, having served in academic and research roles across several global institutions. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at Universitas Airlangga (Indonesia), Guest Lecturer at Temple University (USA), and Visiting Professor at Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Ampel (Indonesia). Previously, he was a Visiting Fellow at Universitas Airlangga and a Visiting Researcher at Universitas Islam Riau in 2018.
He holds a Diploma and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Information Systems Engineering from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). He subsequently earned a Master of Science in Computer Science (Real-Time Software Engineering) from the Centre for Advanced Software Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He later completed his PhD in Software Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, in collaboration with Data61 (formerly Software Systems Research Group), under the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), based at the National ICT Research Centre Australia (NICTA), Australian Technology Park (ATP).
In addition to his academic qualifications, Dr. Shukor has undergone executive training at the University of California, Berkeley under the Executive Development Programme, and he holds a Certificate in High Impact Leadership from the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), London.
Dr. Shukor specializes in software engineering, empirical software engineering, mining software repositories, social network analysis, socio-technical congruence, computer-supported collaborative work, and software process improvement. To date, he has secured more than 48 research grants, totalling over RM4.1 million, and has published over 150 scientific works. He is also the editor of five academic books, including the notable Software Process Improvement and Management: Approaches and Tools for Practical Development.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Shukor actively contributes to national and international professional bodies. He serves as a member of the Advisory Working Group for the National Artificial Intelligence Office (NAIO), Ministry of Digital, and is a Technical Committee Member for Software Engineering at the Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM). He is also affiliated with the Malaysia Software Engineering Interest Group (MySEIG), Big Data Malaysia Group, and is the Principal Researcher of the Software Engineering Research Group.
He is a seasoned reviewer for international journals and conferences and has served as a Technical Programme Committee member for numerous global academic events. Furthermore, Dr. Shukor has been invited as a jury panellist for innovation exhibitions by various institutions, including Universitas Riau, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Universiti Kuala Lumpur, University of Malaya, Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Universitas Ubudiyah (Indonesia), and UiTM.
