Application of Nondestructive evaluation techniques for industrial quality control applications such as

- Thickness inspection of Thermal Barrier coatings using thermal imaging, Eddy current testing, and Terahertz Time-Domain Spectroscopy

- Online monitoring of CMT welding processes using IR thermography for defect detection.

- Online inspection of continuous cast steel billets using infrared thermal imaging

- Development of advanced radiography imaging system for application in a safe, quick and reliable inspection of critical welds in the Shipbuilding industry.

- Development of Automatic defect-recognition system for Xray Digital Radiography inspection of High energy Materials

We explored several interesting technological solutions, exploring the market, validating the technology, speaking to customers, and researching prototypes. Detect and report quality-compromised and counterfeit drugs, adulteration in the food industry using a mobile cloud-based cost-effective hyper-spectral AI device, Infrared thermal imaging-based realtime energy efficiency monitoring for oil refineries are some of the ideas that we worked on.

- Worked on a joint project between IIT Madras and ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) for the development of Online weld quality monitoring for AA2219 liquid propellant tanks using Infrared thermal Imaging technique.

- Worked in the aerospace division Manufacturing unit of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Bangalore for the real-time measurement of thermal images on TIG welding of Aluminum alloys for satellite launch vehicles.

- Worked on the development of 2D and 3D finite element models for the prediction of temperature profiles during TIG welding.

- Developed optimization criteria using inverse algorithm for the energy input of Tungsten inert gas welding.

- Worked on different active infrared thermography technology for the defect identification on aerospace materials such as Honeycomb Structure.

- Characterized materials such as metal alloys, composites and rubber using active infrared thermography technique.
