Wool types

Wool is reflecting the climatic conditions in weather where the sheep lives. In Northern Europe where we have cold winters and warm summers sheep need both long cover wool and finer under wool. The colder climate the more under wool you will find among the sheep.

Estonian native sheep have usually a structure that can be divided in three different lengths. Icelandic wool is divided into two different wool types only. Wool types with all wool in same length are not so common in Northern Europe where we have seasons of warm and cold weather.
