Tentative Itinerary

Tentative dates 7 Feb 2014 to 21 Feb 2014

DAY 1: DEPART Friday

• Fly through the night to Madrid, capital of Spain.

DAY 2 & 3: WEEKEND WITH HOST FAMILIES Saturday & Sunday

• Welcome to Spain! Upon arrival at the airport, a Prométour Representative will meet

you and help you transfer to your partner school.

• Transfer by private motor coach to you partner school: IES Arquitecto Ventura Rodriguez.

• Upon arrival, have a short orientation and meet your pen pals.

• Start your exchange program. While living with a host-family, you will find out that

Spanish is more than a textbook language. You will eat Spanish food, meet Spanish people

and have an excellent opportunity to practice your Spanish in real-life situations.

• Have a nice weekend with your pen pals and their families.

DAY 4 & 5: EXCHANGE PROGRAM Monday & Tuesday

• Attend school with your pen pals. Activities and workshops may be organized at the

school during your visit (to be confirmed with the Spanish school).

DAY 6: TOLEDO / CORDOBA Wednesday

• Today, meet your Prometour Director and board your private motor coach for Toledo.

• Start your day with a visit to a traditional sword workshop where you will learn how the

metal is forged into elaborate weaponry. At the end of your visit you will have the

opportunity to purchase souvenirs.

• Next, follow your local guide and enter Toledo’s monumental Cathedral, the spiritual

heart of the Spanish Church. Visit the church of Santo Tomé to admire one of El Greco’s

masterpieces: The Burial of the Count of Orgaz.

• Have some lunch in a local restaurant with your group.

• Continue on to Cordoba for dinner and overnight accommodation.

DAY 7: CORDOBA / SEVILLA Thursday

• After breakfast at your hotel, meet your local guide and take a tour of the Mezquita, an

8th century Mosque.

• Take some free time to explore the narrow streets of Córdoba, the Juderia (Jewish

Quarter) where you will find the Sinagoga., the flowered patios and the special

atmosphere of the former capital of the Three Cultures.

• After lunch, drive to Sevilla for dinner and overnight accommodation.

DAY 8: SEVILLA / MADRID Friday

• After breakfast, meet your local guide and enjoy a guided tour of Sevilla taking in The

Alcazar – a fortress palace built by the Moors, The Cathedral – the largest Gothic building

in Europe, La Giralda – a minaret built in the 12th century and La Plaza de España.

• Later, take some free time to explore the city at your own pace.

• After lunch on your own, it’s time to board your bus headed for Madrid.

• Return to your host families in Boadilla del Monte for dinner and overnight

accommodation.

DAY 9 & 10: WEEKEND WITH HOST FAMILIES Saturday & Sunday

• Enjoy the weekend with your pen pals and their families.

DAY 11 - 12: EXCHANGE PROGRAM Monday & Tuesday

• Attend school with your pen pals (Schedule to be confirmed with the Spanish school).

DAY 13: DAY TRIP TO EL ESCORIAL / SEGOVIA Wednesday

• After breakfast, meet up with your Prometour Director and travel by private motor coach

to El Escorial.

• Enter El Escorial (audioguides), resting place of Spanish royal families. Visit the library,

which houses some bibliographic treasures, the Kings Pantheon and the Bourbon Palace.

Admire paintings by El Greco and Goya. Rest for a few moments in the Garden of the

Monks.

• Continue to Segovia where you will have lunch in a local restaurant.

• This afternoon, meet your local guide and take a Guided Walking Tour of Segovia. Visit

the Alcázar- the city´s Moorish fortress, the Roman Aqueduct and Cathedral.

• Return to Boadilla del Monte for dinner and overnight accommodation with your host

family.

DAY 14: EXCHANGE PROGRAM Thursday

• Last day of school at Colegio Arquitecto Ventura Rodriguez.

DAY 15: DEPART Friday

• Today after a fond hasta luego to your host family, transfer to the airport by private

motor coach and catch your flight back to the USA.
