Classroom rules and policies:

1. Students are expected to be in their seats working or studying during the class (only Spanish).

2. No food is allowed in the classroom. Bringing food to class will interrupt the entire class and will hinder participation. Because this is a language class, it is important that you can participate orally. There will be times that food will be brought in for a cultural project. This will be the only time eating will be allowed in the classroom.

3. Show respect for your classmates, your teacher and yourself.

4. Raise your hand and wait to be recognized before speaking. When working on activities, if you have questions, raise your hand and be patient. No talking to your neighbor unless working on a group or partner assignment. If you don’t understand something, you should ask Mr. López.

5. Homework and projects are due on the assigned date.

6. No calls or text messaging will be placed or made during class nor received, regardless of the situation. First violation will result in the immediate confiscation and it will be sent to the Principal’s office for you to pick up at the end of the school day. If there is an emergency you can go to the office or have your parent contact you through the school.

7. No playing games or using any type of translator on the computer. You will get only a warning to stop using that. The second time you will get a referral to the office. Remember, the computer is for educational purposes.

8. Language. Swearing will not be tolerated in any shape or form, at all. Nor will any lewd or degrading speech that defames another student. Be respectful.

9. BE POSITIVE. Learning a foreign language is not an easy task. It requires dedication and work discipline.

Attendance and make-up work: It is highly recommended that you are in class every day. REMEMBER that every Friday there is a vocabulary/grammar quiz AND at the end of every UNIT there is a test. If you are going to be gone, please let me know so we can arrange a different time to make it up. If you don’t turn in assignments or you don’t take the test, a zero will be given.
