Speech Pathologists' Association Near Dallas
SPAND is an organization that was founded in September 1994 to help meet the needs of SLPs and SLPAs in the Dallas area. In 2020, with the onset of the COVID pandemic, our meetings and courses became virtual. Our members enjoyed the convenience of the new format so much that we have remained virtual. This also gives us the ability to reach more people outside of the Dallas area. While our name still says, "near Dallas," know that you are welcome to be a part of SPAND whether you are near or far!
Continuing Education Events
SPAND offers two types of continuing education events:
Two-Hour Courses
These are typically hosted on the first Tuesday in the months of April, May, September, October, and November. The courses run from 6-8 PM.
Six-Hour Courses
These are typically hosted on a Saturday, early in the month of February.
ALL OF SPAND'S COURSES ARE OFFERED ONLINE VIA ZOOM AT THIS TIME.
Pre-registration is required for each course through Eventbrite.

Once registered for a course, attendees will receive an email with the Zoom meeting ID and course handouts.

All continuing education events offered by SPAND are approved by TSHA. Participants will receive a TSHA CE Verification form at the conclusion of the event. While TSHA-approved CEUs do not appear on your ASHA registry, TSHA is an ASHA-approved provider for CEUs. Any CEUs earned through SPAND would count toward the CEU requirements of ASHA.
Any SLP, SLPA, and audiologist licensed in Texas is eligible to receive CEUs for SPAND courses. Other states may accept TSHA-approved CEUs, but attendees from out of state are encouraged to check with their state licensure board first.
Options For Attending SPAND Courses
Fees for Members:
Our membership "year" runs September - May. A membership may be obtained in September and October and costs $55. This one-time fee gives members access to all of the 2-hour courses offered for that "year" (a total of 10 CEUs if you attended all of the 2-hour courses). Members also receive a discount for registration of our 6-hour course in February. Please note that a minimal fee is required to process registration through Eventbrite. Once you pay the $55 membership fee, you will simply register for a free ticket to addition additional courses.
Saturday Workshops (6 CEUs): $35 for members
Fees for Nonmembers:
Tuesday Evening Courses (2 CEUs): $20
Saturday Workshops (6 CEUs): $65
