Chulmleigh 175 for 9 (Colin Allen 9-5-11-4, Arjith Ravi 12-5-26-2)
Week two of the tour began with the classic Sunday fixture against Chulmleigh. Good weather and friendly opposition greeted us to the fabulously picturesque ground. SOA to bat first as usual. A steady start, but with an eye on the good lunch to come, wickets fell. After good food, company and speeches, the innings concluded and the generous declaration was made after 47 overs with 171-8 on the board.
Chulmleigh started steadily, with the opening partnership putting on 40 in 15 overs. Sensible batting from the middle order saw the home side needing only 50 runs for victory from the last 20 overs. Game over you might think.
But SOA rallied with the ball, wickets fell, runs became hard to get and with his last ball the SOA President bowls the home captain. Scores level, No 11 comes out to the middle, last over to be bowled. Two dot balls. Oh my word FOUR!!! Chulmleigh Army go mad, wild fireworks explode. "Absolutely Bloody Fabulous." What a great day!
