Lace Days

 South Lakeland Lacemakers Lace Day 2015

This year's lace day was held on the 16th May 2015 at the Barbon Village Hall, near to Kirkby Lonsdale.  There were suppliers, a lace talk, raffles and a competition.  

The Speaker was Frances Bell, who gave a talk about "The History of Lace and Costume".  The competition was Flowers (in any medium).

The 2013 lace day was held on the 18th May 2013 at the Barbon Village Hall, near to Kirkby Lonsdale.  There were suppliers, a lace talk, raffles and a competition.

Churchmeadow Crafts - Lacemaking supplies and pillow specialists

Acorn Bobbins - Bobbin specialists

Reticule - Craft suppliers

Mr and Mrs Bailey - Wood turner providing a variety of wooden goods

There will also be a second hand lace book stall.

With this year's speaker:

Frances Bell who gave a fascinating talk on 'Collars and Things'.  She brought in plenty of examples of collars that used to be worn which were all expertly displayed on our models.  Everyone was able to get a close look at a variety of different types of lace, whilst Frances highlighted the difference between the hand made and machine made lace.
