2023-24 Committee Chair Descriptions

Fundraising & Spirit Wear

Once per year fundraiser (June to November) - other times as needed. Chairperson attends Executive Board Meetings, manages budget, contacts vendor. Volunteers maintain inventory, fill orders and sell spirit wear as needed at PTO Table & events

Teacher Appreciation/Hospitality Chair

About 7 events throughout the year. Manage activities & events to recognize teachers. Coordinate Sign-Up Genius for donations and volunteers.

Welcome Back Lunch, Pot-Luck Lunch and End of the Year Lunch for teachers & staff. Volunteers assist with set up and clean up – one to two hour shifts. Chairperson plans event, orders food from local restaurants, manages volunteers, and maintains budget.

Corporate Matching Chair        

Year-long but most time is spent through November. At home, 1-2 hours per week. Complete and submit applications for matching gifts from businesses. Contact employees or others as needed to complete applications.

Community / Day of Service Chair

Two “Day of Service” Events - Fall (8th Grade) and Spring (7th Grade). Contact local organizations to offer student assistance on “Day of Service” Days. Volunteers assist with Food Drive collection in conjunction with “Day of Service”. This committee does not coordinate transportation or other administrative tasks. 

8th Grade Celebration

Celebration held in the spring, usually on the last day of school. Chairperson coordinates volunteers, communicates with Board & Administration, manages budget. Volunteers manage all details related to celebration including theme, decorations, food & entertainment. Volunteers set up and tear down on day of dance. Typically a large group of 8th Grade parents volunteer and assist with this committee.

Media Center

Year-long. Chairperson manages volunteers using Sign-Up Genius. Volunteers work 1-2 hour mid-day shifts. Volunteers assist Media Center Specialist to re-shelf books, check outs and other tasks.

Book Fair Chair

Twice per year - November & March. Chairperson works with Media Center Specialist & volunteers to set-up and pack up Book Fairs. Chairperson manages volunteers using Sign-Up Genius. Volunteers assist with daily operations of Book Fair - assisting students, cash register, re-shelving.

 Duty Free Lunch Chair

Monthly during School Year. Chairperson manages volunteers using Sign-Up Genius. Volunteers work ONE hour shifts between 11:00 am - 1:30 pm. Volunteers cover lunch duty for teachers & staff to attend meetings or enjoy a break from students. Volunteers assist in keeping students on schedule & supervising students in cafeteria during lunch
