2017 Izaak Walton League Wildlife Award
I would like to personally thank the Districts for this years nominations and congratulations for their conservation work.
Kelly Kistner
IWLA SD Division President
2017 was the 64th year that the South Dakota Izaak Walton League of America has given recognition to South Dakota farmers and ranchers for wildlife habitat conservation accomplishments on their operations. All 66 South Dakota Conservation Districts are asked for nominations from their districts, for landowners who follow conservation practices on their operation that are beneficial to wildlife.
Nominations are judged on five criteria and three nominations are selected for the awards each year. The three winning applications will receive a plaque and the Conservation Districts receive Appreciation Certificates.
The five areas for consideration are: 1) Responsible natural resource management to benefit wildlife habitat, 2) Strong personal interest in exercising good land stewardship, 3) Involvement in the community and other outreach activities, 4) The varieties of wildlife that management has benefited, 5) Utilization of cost sharing programs
