About a decade ago, the genealogy of the Venn family of Somerset was the subject of investigation by an active group of on-line collaborators that included Madeline Wesley, Norm Gifford, Phylis Finn, Gayle Gall, Jo Kneebone and Philip Parsons. This website is an attempt to revive interest in this Venn family and to add to the body of information and material already available.
A summary of the latest information available to us on the descendants of Samuel Venn of Stogumber, (1755-1833) is presented in this site. We are aware of a genealogy documenting a descent linking Richard Venn (pre 1562-1639) and this Samuel Venn, but as we have no source documentation for this, we have not included it. If anyone can help in this regard, it would be most welcome, as would any corrections/additions etc to the genealogy that has been posted. We are also hopeful that this website will encourage Venn descendants to come forward with new information and material. We are particularly interested in obtaining biographical information.
