Money-Related Matters

Each returning team member owes $250 in team dues. New members owe $275. This money covers district, state, and national memberships, local tournament registration fees, hotel and travel expenses, and the state tournament. You can offset these costs by participating in any of our fundraisers: Malley's chocolate bar sales and parent judging. All money is to be given to Mr. Ceci. Please make checks payable to the Solon Board of Education.

Malley's

The Malley's chocolate bar fundraiser will run from November 11th - 22nd. The google form to order these bars can be found here.

Parent Judging

In the OSDA, The judging requirement is typically one judge for every 4-5 students you bring in Individual Events (IE) and one judge for every two debate teams. While coaches can serve as judges, they are not nearly be enough to cover the requirements of each host school. Therefore, we need students to provide judges for the tournaments. They can be parents, grandparents, older brothers and sisters, other family members or friends—just as long as they have graduated high school and are over 18 years of age.

Each time you get someone to help judge a tournament, $25 will be taken off from your dues. $100 is the max that can be taken off from parent judging. However, we encourage as many parent volunteers as possible as that ensures that all of our students can go. The google form for signing up for parent judging can be found here.
