I am a Professor Emeritus at the Graduate School/Faculty of Economics, Kyoto University, a Visiting Professor at the Institute of Social Economic Research, University of Osaka, and a Visiting Research Scholar at the Department of Economics, University of Pennsylvania. Before taking a Professor position at Kyoto University (2017-2026), I was a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Economics, Lancaster University Management School (2015-2017); a Principal Analyst at the Fiscal Policy Studies Unit, Macroeconomic Analysis Division, U.S. Congressional Budget Office (2000-2005, 2012-2015); and an Assistant Professor at the Department of Risk Management and Insurance, J. Mack Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University (2005-2012). I received a Ph.D. Degree in Economics from the Department of Economics, University of Pennsylvania (2000); and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics, Keio University.
