At the LINKS Center, we often use SurveyGizmo for collecting social network data. They are nice people there and the software allows you to ask a screener question like "Who do you know?" and then have all subsequent questions only include the names of the people the respondent knows.
The output is in the form of an Excel file which has to be reformatted a bit to work with UCINET. So we wrote a program called GizmoConvert that takes the the Excel file (with a little hand-editing) and creates a UCINET system file. The program is free and available on the web here:
