About The Lab

Our Social Neuroscience and Psychopathology (SNAP) lab advances a collaborative program of research at the interface of the clinical understanding of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and related psychopathology, psychotherapy research, experimental psychopathology, and social neuroscience. Our interdisciplinary group harnesses these combined perspectives to advance our understanding of the mechanisms of psychopathology such as BPD and their treatment. Current projects include an EEG study of interpersonal trust learning in BPD, computerized text analysis of Reflective Functioning/Mentalization in psychotherapy, and the relation between quality of object relations and attachment to trust appraisal and interpersonal rejection sensitivity in BPD. Over the coming year, we will organize a mix of activities in the Lab include presentation of works in progress, journal club style discussion of the literature, and collaborative literature review of germane topics. We are very interested in mentoring students who are motivated to obtain first-hand experience in all aspects of the research endeavor, from the generation of a scientific question to the presentation/publication of new findings.
