Below is the list of major equipment @ MFL.

FT4 Powder Rheometer (Freeman Technology, UK)

This unique device is used to characterize the powder flow properties. It enables us to:

  • Simulate powder processing conditions, by testing samples in consolidated, moderately stressed, aerated or fluidize state.

  • Characterize multi-faceted powder to assess dynamic powder flow, bulk and shear properties and construct the most comprehensive understanding of how a powder behaves.

  • Differentiate powders that other testers classify as identical with its unparalleled sensitivity.

Particle Size Analyzer (Beckman Coulter, USA)

This is the most versatile and sophisticated laser diffraction particle sizing analyzer available today that:

  • Offers the highest resolution, reproducibility and unsurpassed accuracy.

  • Measures unknown sample distributions without having the analyst guess the type of distribution mode to pre-program the instrument.

  • Permits analysis of particles without the risk of missing either the largest or the smallest particles in a sample.

Gamlen Tablet Press (Gamlen, UK)

This powder compactor is designed to:

  • Facilitate fully automated compaction analysis

  • Provide compaction, detachment and ejection profiles

  • Require minimal material to generate useful results (typically 1.5 g)

LabRam Powder Mixer (Resodyn Acoustic Mixers, USA)

This mixer is designed for batch mixing of developmental and repetitive mixes. It can be used in coating, milling, and grinding processes and has the ability to mix and and process any combination of: solids/powders from nano to scale up, liquids/gases, and viscous/slurry materials. It is designed to:

  • Monitor mixing parameters in real-time

  • Download processing data for analysis

Tapped Density Analyzer (Anton Paar Quantachrome Instruments, USA)

This device measures powders tapped density under controlled conditions of tapping rate, tap force , and cylinder diameter, which provides maximum packing efficiency and is highly reproducible.

High Speed Camera (Photron, USA)

This high speed camera offers 12-bit image recording rates up to 16,000 fps at megapixel image resolution, and shutter speeds to 0.2µs. Recording rates to 1,100,000 fps are available at reduced image resolutions.

Resin 3D Printer (SprintRay, USA)

This is one of the most user-friendly, powerful, and reliable desktop resin based 3D printer for bio-medical applications.

Pro Cure System (SprintRay, USA)

Pro Cure optimizes the post-curing step for the 3D printed parts to offer the best output in the shortest time.

Droplet Impact on a Fast Moving Substrate

The setup enables capturing droplet impact dynamics on fast moving substrates. It is fully automatic and is designed to adjust and control the linear velocity of the surface.

Droplet Impact on a Spinning Disk

The setup enables capturing droplet impact dynamics on spinning substrates. It is fully automatic and is designed to adjust and control the surface angular velocity.

Shear Driven Droplet Shedding

The setup enables capturing droplet shedding dynamics on substrates. It is fully automatic and is designed to adjust and control the airflow velocity.

Controlled Humidity & Temperature Chamber

The setup enables creating a controlled environment to investigate the effect of temperature and humidity on liquid dynamics.

Rain Erosion Test Apparatus

The setup enables measuring rain erosion on various samples.
