ILDs are a complex group of disorders. Many cases found to have a combination of multiple ILD patterns. Hence, in this study the most frequently occurring ILD patterns viz. Consolidation, Emphysema, Fibrosis, Ground Glass Opacity, Nodular and Normal are chosen.ILDs are characterized by their textural properties, The analysis of ILDs is commonly considered as a texture analysis problem. In literature, many textural feature extraction techniques such as DCT, DWT, and Gabor etc. are reported to be useful for classification and retrieval of ILD patterns.
The objective of the CDSS for the ILD is to help radiologists by providing the second opinion for the decision making on the type of ILD pattern by retrieving similar patterns from the database. However, the extent of the disease inside the lung boundary is often suffered from inter-personal variation between the radiologists due to its complexities.
