This installation brings humans into the pollinator's world amid silk models scaled 16 times life size. All the original individual creatures lived in the garden at one time. It appears every October as part of the Autumn Lights Festival at the Gardens at Lake Merritt in Oakland California.
The silk butterflies, caterpillars and other friends also embellish the Pollinator Posse outreach booth at various events throughout the year.
Bee houses under daylight
Bee Houses under UV light
This installation, also at the Autumn Lights Festival, demonstrates the difference between human and bee sight by alternating the light between daylight and UV light.
More than Monarchs
This nature center display illuminates the extensive ecosystem which thrives on a milkweed plant and demonstrates the interdependence and complexity of the system on a single species of plant.Â
