10th Reunion - 2005

10th Reunion

We had a fabulous time at our 10th reunion, May 12-15, 2005! Make sure to check back here for more news and photos in the coming weeks, plus updates on all things related to our graduating class, links, photos (see right; send some more!), and fundraising efforts for giving to the college.

For pictures of reunion (mostly links to online albums) see the column on the right.

At our class meeting on Saturday 5/14/05, we elected our new slate of class officers for the next 5 years. The Class Officers page lists the names. We did not have a nominee for Ada Comstock liaison/chair, so if you are interested in serving, contact Emily White, Sarah DuCray, Jessye Cohen, or email smithclass1995@yahoo.com (old) smithclass1995@gmail.com (new).

Thank you and congratulations to Niki Simoneaux for organizing a GREAT 10th Reunion!

May 12-15, 2005

The Big Ten, our reunion is commencement weekend, complete with Ivy Day parade, llumination Night, and Commencement on Sunday, not to mention class cocktail hours and dinners and Sunday brunch. Contact Niki Simoneaux or Emily White with ideas or questions.

Check out our unofficial Reunion Evite and see who else is going: http://www.evite.com/smithclass1995@yahoo.com/reunion

Our reunion theme is "Carnival" so look for green feather boas to accent our Ivy Day whites! Reunion dues are $35 to cover reunion expenses such as signs to carry in the parade and decorations.

Our on-campus housing assignments are Tyler, Morris, Lawrence. Our meals/meetings are at some pretty cool locations:

  • Friday Cocktails: Campus Center Wilson Atrium
  • Fiday dinner: Campus Center Carroll Room
  • Saturday Lunch: Neilson Browsing Room (this is a box lunch delivery for all)
  • Class Meeting: Neilson Browsing Room
    • This is when we elect the class officers for the next 5 years, so put yourself on the ballot if you're interested (a.k.a. come to the meeting and raise your hand).
  • Saturday Cocktails: Alumni House Terrace
  • Saturday Dinner: Alumni House Conference Hall
  • Sunday Brunch: Gill Hall Auditorium

For child care information see the Child care at reunion page of this site.

Reunion volunteer positions:

Check your newsletter (by post last August) or download the PDF from our Keeping in touch page for details!

  • House Representatives: Need volunteer!
  • Headquarters Chair: Need volunteer!
  • Alumnae Parade Chair: Need volunteer!
  • Friday Night Class Dinner Chair: Need volunteer!
  • Saturday Night Class Dinner Chair: Need volunteer!
  • Sunday Brunch Chair: Need volunteer!
  • Nametag Chairs: Maureen Mitchell & Patricia Han

Dues basically fund the up-front reunion costs such as deposits for events, mailings etc. Survey responses from 19 people show:

  • Most people want a casual Friday night dinner while Saturday still could go either formal or casual.
  • About half the respondants plan on bringing their spouse/partner, while only a few classmates are planning on bringing children (so far).
  • Over half the respondants are interested in meeting at a bar and hiking/nature walk. About 25% were interested in sports, karaoke, or bowling.
  • About half of us are interested in the Alumnae College lecture series.
    • Other suggestions included:
    • Friday afternoon tea
    • Socializing with professors
    • A campus tour
    • Dancing
  • We have a few suggestions for selling green feather boas instead of green sashes for the Ivy Day Parade. In fact, someone wrote in that at the 5 year reunion Danielle Drumke had thought it was a fabulous idea for the 10 reunion.

Thanks to House Rep volunteers who signed up... we still need a bunch more!
