If you do not meet one (or more) of the requirements listed on the "Membership Requirements" page, then you will be placed on probation for the following term in order to give you time to correct the issue. For example, if you did not submit your service hours for 1st term, you would be on probation during 2nd term, and you would have until the end of 2nd term to resolve the issue.
You will know if you are on probation because Mrs. Reay will send an email to you (and your parents/guardians). All NHS emails will be sent to the email address you listed on your application last spring. It is your responsibility to check this email address for NHS information. A letter will be attached to the email to guide you regarding how to correct the problem. While you are on probation, you are still expected to meet all of the current requirements while simultaneously correcting the prior issue.
You can resolve your probation once during the year and still remain in good standing. You cannot be put on probation more than once.
If you continue to not meet the requirements listed, your membership will be removed, and you will be dismissed from NHS. There are three situations that would lead to a member being dismissed:
You were put on probation, and you did not resolve the issue by the end of the following term.
You resolved your probation once, but failed to meet another requirement later in the year. Probation can only be resolved once.
If you are suspended from Skyline at any point during your senior year, you will be automatically dismissed from NHS with no probation period.
If you are dismissed from NHS, you are no longer a member. As a result, you would not be eligible to wear the NHS stole at graduation or have the official NHS seal on your diploma. Please meet the requirements so that you can maintain your membership!
