NB Different versions of the ascent or evolution to the golfer exist. That above shows a golfer swinging. Others show the golfer putting:
[The ascent into a blob-like figure seems to be a visual reference to something that occurs within the film.]
The central character in 'Splice' is a part human genetic hybrid called Dren (Nerd spelt backwards - NERD being the name of the corporation where action takes place).
These images, found on the web, relating to the physical development of Dren during the film are worth including for their similarity to the 'Ascent' image:
