This part of this Google Site will be mainly in English to share information about the Camino Portugués.
The most important document is the Excel sheet marked with a green X. That sheet will be updated so now and then.
Download that file to your PC/laptop for a better view!

Options for the camino from Porto - Best way to leave Porto:via the green dotted line from the centre of Porto along the river Douro and along the coast (see the map on page 1 - last two pages! - and the map on page 2. It is called Senda Litoral). That part of the camino is NOT called the Camino de la Costa. The Camino de la Costa is going directly north from the cathedral in Porto via suburbs, airport and industrial area's to Vila do Conde and from there it is going along the coast. The Senda Litoral is completely flat via special lanes for pedestrians and cyclists. There is no traffic until Vila do Conde via the green dotted line and you can easily find your way (the river and the sea are always left from you). The green dotted line is going through the dunes, through the beautiful area. From Vila do Conde you can decide whether to continu the coast line or to go inland eastwards to RATES where you can join the popular historical road Camino Central. For that follow the old (from the 17th century) aqueduct in Vila do Conde to the village of Beiriz and from there to Rates, alltogether 13 km. It is alltogether 240 km from the cathedral in Porto to Santiago de Compostela. You need about 14 to 18 days for it.
Lisbon - very good free guided tour (a tip is much appreciated!) - See https://www.facebook.com/johndoetours http://aliroundtheworld.com/2014/08/26/in-love-with-lisbon/ Start of the tour in front of the Golden Tram 242 hostel opposite to the famous Santa Justa elevator, address: Rua Áurea 242
Kathrin Hützen – Der Portugiesische Weg (from Lisbon) - very good book with a lot of addresses Der Portugiesische Weg / O Caminho Português (in German). Kathrin Hützen describes very detailed her walk from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela. From page 142 you can read almost everything on the internet (from Mealhada = 100 km south of Porto). From Porto you can read almost everything from page 172 (till the end on page 267) See also http://peronegro.com/
From Vila do Conde via the aqueduct and the village of Beiriz to RATES - When you like to go to the popular Camino Central in São Pedro de Rates (in short: RATES) follow the old aqueduct (from the 17th century) in Vila do Conde for about 4 km and head towards Beiriz and Seixo to reach Rates. Alltogether about 13 km.
From Vila do Conde to RATES crossing the river Este and passing Junqueira and Arcos - This track of about 15,5 km has probably more traffic than the other mentioned track via the aqueduct in Vila do Conde, but it is not passing short desolated areas like the other mentioned track. And Junqueira and Arcos are interesting historical spots on your way.
From Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela via the coast - Two recommendations between Porto and Vila do Conde to have the best way to leave Porto:- follow the river Douro from the centre of Porto (nice path to walk, nice path to cycle, all flat, no traffic, no difficulties to find your way - the water is always at your left hand). When the wooden path in Gafa/Mindelo (just before Azurara and Vila do Conde) is still under construction, don't take the desolated scary area behind that village. Better to follow the open beach for 2 km
