Growing up as an Asian boy in a Western society, I had a very hard time identifying myself as a hero since there is no such figure. Even now, in Halloween, if an Asian kid wanted to dress up as a heroic character of his or her own heritage, the only Asian hero that he or she can dress up to be is Bruce Lee, which is also the only figure they could look up when growing up. However, in fact, Bruce was also a sidekick, Kato, of the Green Hornet, a white male hero.

I turned around 30 faces on a 23m long ancient Greek relief to be my own Asian face. The conflict between the two distinct imageries reveals the part of myself which is longing to be the hero I have never been and the very hidden racial inequality in our society.
