About Us

Silicon Valley Quilts for Kids (SVQFK) is a Northern California chapter of the national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization Quilts for Kids, Inc.  We are quilters who make and donate colorful quilts to bring comfort to children in need.

Our chapter began with eight quilters in 2011 and now consists of ~70 volunteers.   Everyone sews at home and we hold semimonthly workshops where volunteers sew on individual projects, sort fabric donations, and prepare quilts for deliveries.   Some volunteers prefer to assemble patchwork, some like to quilt our tops on their large longarm quilting machines and others enjoy finishing and binding.  Since our first workshop in 2011, we have made and donated over 11,000 quilts.

Our volunteers select the recipients to receive our quilts.  Click here to view the list of those agencies.

We are grateful to our sponsors and donors whose facilities, monetary, and in-kind donations make our work possible.  Click here to view the list of our supporters.
