We have begun to offer online webinars to our members, as well as to the general MAA audience. We hope that these webinars will be of value to our membership.
We also ask that suggestions are made for speakers, topics, and content that we can prepare to offer. If you are willing to give an online session, please let us know! You can communicate with Dave Stephens (secretary-treasurer)
SIGMAA TAHSM will present two talks on Wednesday evening, May 20 at 6:00 PM about some calculus topics. Since the high school AP's are nearly over and the university classes are finished for the semester, the presentation will look at two topics from a slightly different view. Perhaps you can share them with students if you are still in class with them.
David Stephens (The Bryn Mawr School, Baltimore, MD) will start us off with a talk about his teaching involving arclength. Entitled "Arclength: Calculus Meets History", ideas about how students learn about lengths will be presented using some historical references. Bob Sachs (George Mason University, Fairfax, VA) will present on using Taylor polynomials to create and analyze numerical methods for approximate integration.
