I am a Master’s student in the Shurin lab studying food web dynamics in reservoirs. I am interested in the driving forces behind seasonal changes in freshwater community structures and how they occur over temporal and spatial scales. My research is focusing on how the interactions between biotic (zooplankton, bacteria, chytrid fungi, phytoplankton) and abiotic factors drive carbon dioxide flux across three reservoirs in San Diego County. I want to determine if these reservoirs are saturated or sources for CO2 to the atmosphere and if there are certain times of year when either would occur.
