TIPS for UTexas
Your grade is based on the successfully individually completed questions not the grade at the bottom of the submission table. On the submission table on the right side of the screen is a column for "Points Earned". Full credit for the question is earned if the number in this column is greater than zero. To earn a score greater than zero on a fill in problem you have 7 tries to enter the correct answer. To earn a score greater than zero on a multiple choice problem you have to enter the correct answer in less than 1/2 of the number of answers. For example if there are 6 choices you will have 3 chances to earn full credit.
The minimum number of significant digits you can have in an answer is 3. Examples: 256, 2.56, 0.0256, 2560, etc. This is due to the problems have a 1% leeway for you to get the answer. So your answer doesn't have to be exact but it does have to be pretty close, so be careful when you are rounding.
To enter a number in scientific notation such as 3 x 10^8 you use the letter e or E to replace the x10^. So it would be 3E8 or 3e8. On a side note: Use the EE button on your calculator to enter scientific notation not x10^. The calculator is likely to give you a wrong answer using x10^ since the calculator see this as operation to perform not a number. Ask me an I will show you how to do this.
