Dr. Shouvik Chakraborty is serving as a Lecturer and Head of the Department of Computer Science & Technology, and In-Charge of the Machine Intelligence and Computer Vision Laboratory at Women’s Polytechnic, Chandernagore. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Kalyani, West Bengal, India, in 2023.
A recipient of the prestigious DST INSPIRE Research Fellowship, Dr. Chakraborty is an active member of several professional organizations, including IEEE, IACSIT, IAENG, ICSES, IEDRC, MIR Labs, SDIWC, ISERS, IEEE Young Professionals, IFERP, among others. He is also an Associate Member of ISDS and a life member of the Institute of Scholars (InSc), India. Dr. Chakraborty has been recognized among the top 2% of the most influential scientists worldwide for two consecutive years, as per the database compiled by John Ioannidis of Stanford University and published by Elsevier. Additionally, he is listed in the global rankings of scientists by the Alper-Doger Scientific Index and ScholarGPS. He is also recognised as one of the Top Scholars of 2024 by ScholarGPS.
Some of his research contributions have been included in the WHO COVID-19 research database, developed in response to the Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). To date, Dr. Chakraborty has authored and presented over 75 research articles across journals, books, and reputed national and international conferences. His research interests span soft and evolutionary computing, biomedical image analysis, pattern recognition, and optimization techniques.
He serves on the editorial review boards of the International Journal of Computer Vision and Image Processing, International Journal of Semiotics and Visual Rhetoric, and Advances in Science, Technology and Engineering Systems Journal.
