Apr. 2016: The National Institute of Health awards a grant in the amount of $442,376 to Dr. Young-Seok Shon for the duration of 4 years (2016-2020). This grant will support the Shon group's research on understanding how near-surface steric controls, non-covalent interactions, and chiral interactions determine the catalytic properties of the modified nanoparticles.

Our research focuses on three general areas:

1) Colloidal ligand-capped metal nanoparticles for catalytic applications and enzyme site mimics

2) Micelle-like ligand-capped nanoparticles and liposome-encapsulated nanoparticles for green and biocatalysis

3) Engineered nanoparticle hybrids for thermal- or photo-enhanced catalysis
