Shohei Nakamura

Shohei Nakamura is a Senior Economist at the World Bank. He is currently supporting Pacific Island countries through statistical capacity building and poverty and inequality analyses.  His most recent work includes the Tonga Poverty and Equity Assessment Report and the Solomon Islands Multidimensional Poverty and Spatial Disparities Report.  Shohei has also been working on urban poverty globally in both methodology and empirical analyses, with various publications in academic journals.

Before joining the Bank, he was a visiting fellow at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. He has a Ph.D in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Michigan, a Master’s degree in Regional Planning from Cornell University, and a BA from the University of Tokyo.  Prior to moving to the United States, he worked for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in Japan.
