Biography

Shimeng Liu is an associate professor at the Institute for Economic and Social Research (IESR), Jinan University in Guangzhou, China. He received his Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from Syracuse University and a B.S. in Economics from Huazhong University of Science & Technology. Before joining Jinan University, he was a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at Lusk Center for Real Estate, Sol Price School of Public Policy, University of Southern California. His research interests are in the areas of Urban and Real Estate Economics, Labor Economics and Chinese Economy. His work has appeared in many academic journals, such as Journal of Urban Economics, Regional Science and Urban Economics, China Economic Review, Journal of Regional Science and Contemporary Economic Policy. He is the recipient of a Homer Hoyt Institute Best Paper Award, a GCREC Best Paper Award, and several fellowships and grants, including a NSFC grant. He has been regularly interviewed by the media, such as the Nan Fang Daily and Guangzhou Daily.
