Shimeng Liu is an Associate professor (with tenure) at the Institute for Economic and Social Research (IESR), Jinan University in Guangzhou, China. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Syracuse University in 2014. He was a Research Fellow at the Lusk Center for Real Estate, Sol Price School of Public Policy, University of Southern California from 2014 to 2016. His research interests are in Urban and Regional Development, Chinese Real Estate, and Labor Economics. His work has appeared in many leading journals including the Journal of Urban Economics, Regional Science and Urban Economics, China Economic Review, Journal of Regional Science, and Contemporary Economic Policy. He is the recipient of a Homer Hoyt Institute Best Paper Award, two GCREC Best Paper Awards, and several fellowships and grants, including two NSFC grants. He has been regularly interviewed by the media, such as the Nan Fang Daily and Guangzhou Daily.
