About me
I am Dr. Shihab. I am from Anchal in the Kollam district of Kerala. I am a graduate of Commerce and Library and Information Science. I also have a postgraduate degree, M. Phil., PhD, in library and information science and qualified for the UGC-Net Examination. I have presented several papers and published articles in international and national journals. I have more than 24 years of experience in this field. I worked at different colleges and schools. I have set up the best computerized libraries meeting all requirements using modern technology in the Muslim Association College of Engineering and Azeezia Medical College. I worked as a professional assistant at the Cochin University of Science and Technology Library. I have designed a portal, http://shihabillias.googlepages.com, intended as a key to internet information searches by librarians and professionals in different fields. I have developed a website http://macelibrary.googlepages.com for the Muslim Association College of Engineering Library intended users to make them aware of using library & library resources and also familiarize them with internet information search. Presently I am working in Campus Library, University of Kerala as Reference Assistant. I have also designed a website http://sites.googlepages.com/site/kuislibrary for the Department of Islamic Studies Library, University of Kerala. I am an Editor of the ILIS Journal of Librarianship and Informatics (ISSN No. 2581-9194). I am a resource person for various International and National Seminars and Workshops.

Worked in Department of Islamic studies, University of Kerala, Kariavattom , Kerala, as Librarian since 24/12/2009 to August 2022. I have setup a modern computerized library conforming to modern standards.
Worked at the Cochin University of Science and Technology Library, Cochin, Kerala, as Professional Assistant from 18/07/2008 to 23/12/2009.
Worked at the Azeezia Medical College, Kollam, Kerala as Chief Librarian from 07-04-2008 to 17-07-2008. I have set up a modern computerized library conforming to modern standards.
I worked as a librarian at the Muslim Association College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, from 30-10-2002 to 31-03-2008. I have set up a new computerized library conforming to modern standards.
Worked at the Devaswom Board Pamba College, Mannar, as part of the computerization of the library for six months from 26-12-2001 to 21-5-2002.
I have been keenly involved in setting up a new library in Cresent Central School, Peringammala, Thiruvananthapuram, by CBSE standards. I worked there for six months, from 3-6-2002 to 22-10-2002.
I got training at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Technology in ‘Circulation’ and other ‘Technical Aspects’ of the Library.

DISSERTATION SYNOPSIS
I have prepared a thesis entitled ‘Use of e-journals among faculty members and research scholars of Universities in Kerala; An Investigative Study Study’ as a part of the Ph.D. Dissertation.
I have prepared a thesis entitled ‘Use of the Internet by Students in Muslim Association College of Engineering: An Analytical Study’ as a part of the M.Phil Dissertation.
I have also prepared a development plan for the Muslim Association Engineering College Library, Venjaramoodu, Thiruvananthapuram, as a part of the M.L.I.Sc Dissertation. The study was ‘How to convert the newly set library into a modern library’.
COMPUTER PROFICIENCY
BASIC, MS Office.
I have undertaken a computer course on MS Office and advanced library and information science specialisations to gain more exposure to sophisticated areas of modern technology. Apart from this, I have practical experience in computerising college libraries, mainly libraries of Kerala University Department of Islamic Studies, Muslim Association College of Engineering, D B Pampa College, and Crescent Central School, to equip them with modern facilities. I have also provided all such libraries with bar-coding of documents. Moreover, with my effort, networking in the Muslim Association College of Engineering library was also done effectively as bar-coding. I designed a website, http://shihabillias.googlepages.com/, intended as a key to internet information searches by various students and professionals associated with these fields. I also developed a website http://macelibrary.googlepages.com for the Muslim Association College of Engineering Library and Department of Islamic Studies, the University of Kerala http://sites.google.com/site/kuislibrary intended to make all users, to make them aware of using library & library resources and also familiarise them with the facilities such as internet information search.
I have been working as a Co-Ordinator of the RFID project in the Campus Library at the University of Kerala and a committee member of the One Library One Campus Koha Project at the University of Kerala.
I am a resource person for different international and national seminars, workshops, and faculty development programs on various topics, including AI tools and Digital tools for learning, teaching and research, Zotero, reference management software, and Mendaly- reference management software.

Three-Day National Workshop on Research Methodology was held at Christ Nagar College Maranalloor, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala from February 18th to the 20th, 2024, and I had a handled session "Reference Management Made Easy Using Zotero" on April 19th, 2024 at 1 pm.
Served as a Resource person and handled an online section on 8th February in Eight Day FDP on Research: Methodology, Ethics and AI Tools on 1st February 2024 - 8th February 2024, organised by Prahladrai Dalmia Lions College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai, Maharashtra.
