I am Dr. Shibsankar Das, Assistant Professor (Selection Grade / Stage-III) in the Department of Mathematics, Institute of Science (I.Sc.), Banaras Hindu University (B.H.U.), Varanasi - 221005, Uttar Pradesh, India. I have also served as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the DST-Centre for Interdisciplinary Mathematical Sciences (CIMS) and Department of Computer Science, I.Sc., B.H.U.
My academic journey includes a B.Sc. (Honours) in Mathematics from Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College, Rahara, Kolkata (affiliated with the University of Calcutta); an M.Sc. in Mathematics from I.I.T. Madras, Chennai; an M.Tech. in Computer Application from I.I.T. (I.S.M.) Dhanbad and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from I.I.T. Guwahati.
I completed part of my PhD in the Department of Theoretical Computer Science, Faculty of Information Technology, Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague, Czech Republic, under the prestigious HERITAGE (Erasmus Mundus) Fellowship, funded by the European Commission for the Ph.D. Exchange mobility program, 2013-2014.
I regularly teach courses and subjects spanning Combinatorics, Discrete Mathematics, Graph Theory, Computer Programming (in Python, SageMath, MATLAB, C, C++, VC++, HTML, etc.), Data Structures, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Automata Theory, Theory of Computation, Digital Logic and Circuits, Software Engineering, Cryptography, Operating Systems, Computer Graphics, Linear Programming, Algebra, Combinatorial Mathematics, Geometry, Numerical Analysis, Real Analysis, Complex Analysis, Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations, Statics and Dynamics, Mathematical Methods, Mathematical Modelling, Probability and Statistics, and related areas. My broad areas of specialization include Discrete Mathematics, Graph Theory, Combinatorics, Computer Programming (C, C++, VC++, VB, MATLAB, Python, SageMath, HTML, etc.), Data Structures and Algorithms, Theory of Computation and Automata Theory, Theoretical Computer Science, etc.
My current research interests include Chemical Graph Theory and Mathematical Chemistry, Topological Indices and Graph Polynomials, Extremal Graph Theory, Graph (Matching) Algorithms, String Matching (Approximate & Parameterized String Matching Algorithms), Data Structures, Design and Analysis of Algorithms & Combinatorics.
Apart from my research work and several academic duties, I take a lot of interest in Swimming, flying Kites, doing Yoga, reading Spiritual books, listening to soft music, photography, attending academic seminars and cultural programs. I believe in pursuing work with enthusiasm and purpose: "I Love What I Do and Do What I Love"!
