Design a research project for a high school student

Excellent high students were selected for UCLA high school summer research program (HSSRP, http://esc.seas.ucla.edu/high-school-summer-research-program-2/). I am honored to mentor one of them, Luis. I made a prototype of spin-orbit torque magnetic random access memory, Ta/CoFeB/TaOx for his study. In this work, he learned to do write and read of magnetic state in the magnetic layer. In addition, he found that the electric current switching using spin-orbit torque (spin Hall effect) is much more efficient than the case using an external magnetic field to switch. Wish him the best for high school study and college application.
