The Shawnee Nature Club is organized to promote interest in all phases of nature as a hobby and as a science; to further study in various fields of nature; and to sponsor programs leading to the conservation of plant and animal life.

Harry and Elsie Knighton Memorial Fund
The Shawnee Nature Club established this fund to commemorate the lifelong service of Harry S. and Elsie Knighton to the youth of the Scioto County area and their contribution to the enjoyment, knowledge and conservation of all areas of the natural environment. The fund provides for a scholarship for a Scioto County youth to attend the Cincinnati Museum Center Science Camp of the Edge of Appalachia Preserve near Lynx, Ohio. The Scioto County Area Foundation is the custodian and investment advisor for the fund. All donations are tax deductible, and should specify the name of the fund.
