Dr. Shankar Gangisetty is currently a applied research scientist at CVIT, IHub-Data, IIIT Hyderabad researching in the space of mobility for technology development on road and driver safety in Indian driving conditions. Earlier was a Professor at School of Computer Science and Engineering, KLE Technological University, Hubballi, India. He obtained his PhD from department of Computer Science and Engineering, B V B College of Engineering and Technology under Visvesvaraya Technological University. He did his Master's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal. 

He has published research papers in the areas of Computer Vision, Machine/Deep Learning, Multi-modal Learning, and Data Science/Natural Language Processing. His PhD thesis on 3D Data Representation and Geometric Processing finds its application in 3D Reconstruction of Digital Cultural Heritage Sites, more specifically UNESCO World heritage site Humpi Temples, Karnataka, India. He is a Co-PI for various DST sponsored funded projects, namely, crowdsourcing for cultural heritage sites and underwater heritage sites 3D reconstruction and more recently driving simulator for Indian road conditions. He was a SPOC and mentor to INSZoom Pvt. Ltd. Industry collaborative projects.

He is honoured as Piazzaversary from Piazza for most effective online teaching in 2019, received an International Travel Grant by SERB to attend BMVC'19, and recipient of best doctoral symposium award at ICVGIP 2016 conference, IIT Guwahati. 

His current research works includes Human-centric Multi-modal Driving Video Understanding, Simulating Driving conditions and Driver Behaviour Understanding, Driving Place Recognition, Segmentation in AD.
