FDIM 2015

I gave a presentation entitled 'Opening the Door: just wide enough' at the QRP-ARCI Four Days in May Convention in 2015...

"We are used to seeing “mode” switches, which modify the receiving bandwidth of full-featured commercial rigs to suit the differing requirements of (e.g.) CW or phone. After a brief review of the motives for opening the door just wide enough to allow signal spectral components through our receiver whilst not admitting unwelcome noise, Paul looks at practical methods to build variable bandwidth into simple homebrew rigs. Although there is some consideration of both direct conversion receivers and SDR systems, the main focus of this presentation is a new technique to implement variable receive bandwidth in a simple super-heterodyne architecture."
